FRIENDS REUNITED Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea in talks to buy Spanish side Elche

Manchester United’s talismanic goalkeeper David de Gea is reportedly in talks to buy Spanish club Elche.
It is understood that the Segunda Division side’s largest shareholder, Jose Sepulcre, is on the lookout for a new takeover.

De Gea has a affinity with Elche having grown up near their home ground for some of his childhood
And as well as being in talks with super-agent Jorge Mendes, De Gea is also in touch with Sepulcre regarding a potential takeover for 18million euros (£16million), according to Spanish publication Sport.
Elche, based near Spain’s Southeastern coast, are currently 12th in the Spanish second tier.
De Gea’s father is an Elche fan, whilst De Gea himself spent some of his childhood in the region and is still a season ticket holder at the club.
The Spain international recently extended his Old Trafford contract for another four years..
He is understood to be earning a basic of £250,000-a-week, rising to £350,000-a-week with performance-related clauses.

If De Gea does buy his stake in the club, he will follow a number of recent ventures into club ownership from high-profile figures in Spanish football.

Gerard Pique, De Gea’s Spain teammate, purchased FC Andorra in Spain’s third tier recently.
Brazilian legend Ronaldo also bought a 51% stake in La Liga side, Real Valladolid.
Elche drew 1-1 with Rayo Vallecano on Saturday in the Segunda Division whilst De Gea’s Manchester United travel to Newcastle on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League.
