Hijab Crisis: Security agents rescued Surulere Baptist School students in Ilorin on Monday from being razed by fire by unknown hoodlums.

Located within the school premises is also a church.

Newsmen gathered that the unknown hoodlums set tires ablaze and threw them into the varsity premises at around 5 p.m.

However, vigilant security operatives at the scene acted promptly to put off the fire that might have caused major damage to the structures.

No one has been arrested in connection to the attack, but security has been uptight within the area of the Christain mission schools in Ilorin closed by the state government with regard to the discord between Muslims and Christain communities in the State.

When contacted on Tuesday morning, the State police command spokesman, Mr. Okasanmi Ajayi, confirmed the attack.

The spokesman said the police commissioner, Mr. Mohammed Lawal Bagege, has ordered the DPO in-charge of the area, “To clear all unused tires within the area, and strengthen security.”

Ajayi, who confirmed the event , said no arrest was made, but the police personnel present at the scene, calm the situation, putting the fire out after retrieving the tires.

To prevent more law and order breakdown, the govt has ordered the extension of lockdown within the ten schools that were affected.
